take action

Let’s take action now, to start to losing weight with The Alternate Diet.

We have established our figures in terms of daily calorie requirement for ongoing weight loss and also how much weight we can lose in the coming weeks and months. Now this is done, we will not need to revisit it until we have lost a substantial amount of weight. Let’s begin the daily process that is going to secure our success.

Recording your Calorie intake

First, you will need to get used to recording your daily calorie intake. This involves weighing your food and ingredients. This is the best way to make sure you stay on track with your weight loss goals. A good kitchen scale is invaluable here.

A daily calorie tally can be made, to keep track of calories consumed in the day, however, an App like MyFitnessPal is invaluable for tracking your input. This App allows you to enter exactly what you eat and it will show you the breakdown in terms of Carbohydrates, Proteins and Fats as well as your calorie totals. This means you can include meals, snacks and drinks and it helps you work out what you can eat every day, whilst keeping as near as possible to your macro targets.

Since the App gathers input from users all over the world to build a database of foods and meals. This means that there is usually a suitable entry to select when you are looking up a food or meal item. The other excellent facility is the barcode scanner on the App, which allows you to scan packaging and have the entry immediately appear in the App with the nutrition information coming up right away.

Check your progress and update the App throughout the day to keep your calories on track, both for the number consumed and the balance across the different food types. At all times you should try to stay as close as possible to your selected macro distribution for Carbohydrates, Proteins and Fats.

The App also shows how much fibre you are getting, and important levels of vitamins and minerals gained from your food choices. This helps keep your diet healthy and suitable for good body function and health. Look out for any deficiencies and you can easily adjust your food selection to boost these areas, if necessary.

Recording your Weight Loss

An exciting aspect of dieting this way is seeing your weight decrease over time. To do this, you will have to set up a way of recording your weight in a consistent way, held in a safe place. The idea here is to make it a habit and look at your stats regularly, so you can enjoy your progress by actually seeing the graph of your weight as it falls off you.

This can be done on your Smart Scale, as mentioned in the Getting Started section. Other methods are using Apps or Web Interfaces, or adding it to records with your wearable technology like your Fitbit. The MyFitnessPal App allows you to track your weight, keeping it in the same place as you store your daily calorie intake. This can be done using the Free Version of the App, if you don’t mind seeing a few adverts every now and then, or you can upgrade to the Paid Version, if you wish.
